The sake-brewing business began in 1834.
While bringing fresh ideas to traditions and techniques handed down since its founding,
the winery aims to make high-quality wines suited to the subtle Japanese palate and food culture.
Far back in Japan's Warring States period, Oso-go in the province of Kai was a village inhabited by workers of the Kurokawa gold mines.
The family still preserves a shuinjo official document granted by the Takeda clan in 1543.
In 1834, Kazama Kaie founded the family's sake-brewing business.
In 1986, Kai Winery Co., Ltd. was established in the traditional kura residence that still preserves this history today.
This café occupies a restored 200-year-old earthen storehouse from the Edo period and is registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan.
Here you can take your time enjoying every label made by Kai Winery, served in excellent condition and at reasonable prices, together with light snacks.
Aromatic coffee and homemade cakes are also available.
In addition to casual lunch sets, course meals and party menus can be prepared by reservation.
