The “Chateau Mercian Festival 2026 — Making Japan One of the World’s Great Wine Regions” will be held at Shibuya Cast Space & Garden on Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16.
The festival launched in 2025 and is now in its second year.

About the Event
The “Chateau Mercian Festival 2026 — Making Japan One of the World’s Great Wine Regions” is designed to further raise awareness of Japanese wine by giving people who do not usually drink it a chance to experience its flavor and enjoyment.
On the event days, all three Chateau Mercian wineries — Chateau Mercian Katsunuma Winery, Chateau Mercian Kikyogahara Winery and Chateau Mercian Mariko Winery — will participate in the festival.
About the Program
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Chateau Mercian’s major 1976 shift in grape-growing policy in the Kikyogahara district, when vineyards were replanted to Merlot.
To commemorate the milestone, the festival will focus on Nagano Prefecture and hold a paid seminar in which winemakers discuss both the challenges they have taken on so far and those they see ahead.
A wide range of content is planned, including talk events featuring the three Chateau Mercian wineries, introductions to wines recommended by winemakers, and free seminars led by younger winemakers.
