To mark its 25th anniversary, Nakaizu Winery Chateau T.S has launched a new wine series built around a fresh concept: “COLLEKARA.”
The wines are said to embody the “challenge and curiosity” of both the vineyard and cellar teams.
Here are the details.
About the “COLLEKARA” Series
COLLEKARA is a new-concept wine series from Nakaizu Winery Chateau T.S.
The lineup includes wines made from a variety of grapes cultivated through growers’ curiosity and ambition—questions such as “Are there varieties even better suited to Izu’s climate and terroir?” and “Can we try growing this grape in Izu?”—as well as wines made through different vinification approaches intended to draw out the character of Izu-grown grapes.
The First Release Is Malbec
The first wine in the COLLEKARA series is “Malbec 2023 / Izu Malbec 2023,” released on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
The variety has been grown there since 2015, and the wine has a deep ruby color.
It shows a thick disk and some viscosity.
Robust aromas of leather, coffee and chocolate derived from oak mingle with ripe black cherry and black pepper, producing a wine with a pronounced sense of alcohol.
Production is extremely limited, and the wine is available only at the Nakaizu Winery shop.
COLLEKARA #2, the second release, is currently in the planning stage.
