On Thursday, September 10, 2026, “TOFROM YAESU,” a mixed-use complex in Yaesu 1-chome in front of Tokyo Station, opened its doors.
Among the many up-to-date shops lining the complex is one that Japanese wine fans will not want to miss.
It is “IMADEYA KAKU-UCHI TOKYO,” operated by the specialty liquor retailer IMADEYA.
I recently attended a pre-opening event held ahead of the official opening of TOFROM YAESU.
My conclusion: IMADEYA KAKU-UCHI TOKYO is a kaku-uchi spot that is a must-visit not only for drinks lovers, but especially for Japanese wine fans.
Here is a report on the pre-opening and what makes IMADEYA KAKU-UCHI TOKYO so appealing from a Japanese-wine perspective.
About IMADEYA KAKU-UCHI TOKYO

IMADEYA KAKU-UCHI TOKYO is a shop that aims to share the culture of KAKU-UCHI with the world from Tokyo.
It deliberately carries no imported alcoholic beverages. Instead, it focuses on a lineup Japan can proudly present to the world, including Japanese wine, authentic shochu, domestic spirits, and snacks made with Japanese ingredients.
This is IMADEYA’s eighth shop, but the company says it is its first attempt at a store limited entirely to Japanese alcoholic beverages.
Perhaps because you are surrounded by “good things from Japan,” stepping inside gives the place an easy, familiar comfort, almost like coming home.
A new level of focus on Japanese wine

One of the defining features of IMADEYA KAKU-UCHI TOKYO is its strong emphasis on Japanese wine.
IMADEYA may be strongly associated with sake, but among its eight stores, this location is said to place the greatest emphasis on Japanese wine.
Partly because the company’s vice president, Azusa Ogura, has long-standing connections with Japanese wine producers, the shop carries more than 200 Japanese wines.
The selection spans red, white, sparkling, rosé, and orange wines, and wineries from north to south, creating a lineup that can be enjoyed almost like traveling through Japan.

At the pre-opening, sparkling wine from Ajimu Budoushu Koubou, a producer with whom IMADEYA has a long relationship, was served. Choshi Wine Brewery from Chiba Prefecture, where IMADEYA originated, also provided wines for tasting, conveying the team’s strong desire to share the appeal of Japanese wine.
Original limited-edition wine for the opening

IMADEYA KAKU-UCHI TOKYO offers an individualistic lineup ranging from major and mid-sized producers to more niche Japanese wines that enthusiasts may have always wanted to try.
One bottle the staff particularly recommended was Domaine des Tengeij × IMADEYA “Grenat Vin Blanc 2024”.
IMADEYA staff visited the winery and created the white wine by assembling two barrel-aged Koshu white-wine base wines with 1% orange wine.
When the Koshu’s acidity seemed too pronounced, one staff member suggested adding orange wine. The result, they say, achieved an exquisite balance.
Only 300 bottles of “Grenat Vin Blanc 2024” were produced.
For Japanese wine fans, it is the kind of rare bottle that makes you want to try it right away.
A noteworthy shop opening a new door to Japanese wine

Bottles displayed at IMADEYA KAKU-UCHI TOKYO are also available for purchase.
Even better, for a ¥1,000 corkage fee, guests can enjoy bottles sold in the shop on-site in the kaku-uchi style.
The snacks offered will change regularly, and the Japanese wine selection will also evolve with the seasons, so even weekly or monthly visits are likely to bring new discoveries.
Drawing on IMADEYA’s long-standing relationships with Japanese wine, the company says it wants to establish this shop as a widely recognized “base for communicating Japanese wine,” primarily for businesspeople working in Yaesu.

Wines available by the glass are marked with tags in the shop’s image color, ebicha, a reddish-brown shade, and prices start at a reasonable ¥680.
Ryota Koyama, Executive Officer of IMADEYA Co., Ltd., said of the shop, “We want this to be a place where businesspeople in the area can casually enjoy high-quality Japanese wine. First, we want people to encounter Japanese wine in an easy, approachable way. From there, I think the possibilities will expand.” He expressed hope that the shop will help broaden the audience for Japanese wine.
It is easy to walk in casually, yet the Japanese wines on offer are carefully selected.
For Japanese wine fans, IMADEYA KAKU-UCHI TOKYO is a new destination worth knowing.
If you are in the area, why not stop by IMADEYA KAKU-UCHI TOKYO?
