Wine Made on the Island of Mikans: Visiting Omishima Minna no Winery (Ehime Prefecture)

We are already into the second half of July, and Marine Day has come and gone. Heading to the sea during a hot summer like this is the absolute best!

When it comes to Japan's seas, the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Japan are wonderful, of course, but the Seto Inland Sea is also lovely.
Surrounded by land, its calm waters are popular for marine sports and leisure activities.

Our destination this time is a winery on Omishima, an island overlooking the Seto Inland Sea.

“Omishima Minna-no Winery” was founded by architect Toyo Ito.

We spoke with Ms. Sachiko Kawada from the winery office to learn all about its charm.

Wine made from grapes harvested in vineyards that used to be mandarin orange groves almost gives off a hint of mandarin orange... Or so you might catch yourself thinking at Omishima Minna-no Winery, surrounded by rich natural beauty.
