Hakkenzan Sapporo Local Wine Research Institute Co., Ltd. has fully launched its guided winery tours and shuttle service from December 2025, building on tours offered since April and a trial shuttle service introduced in October.
It is the only guided winery tour in Sapporo City that includes tastings, and transportation is also provided.
Here are the details.
About the Guided Tour
The guided tour program combines winery tours that began in April 2025 with the shuttle service tested from October.
Feedback from participants has been incorporated into the full launch from December 2025.
Many visitors had said that the winery was difficult to reach by public transportation or that they felt uneasy about driving on winter roads. By combining transfers from Makomanai Subway Station and the Jozankei Onsen area, the program aims to turn the journey itself into an experience of scenery, wine and food.
In addition to micro-tourism demand among Sapporo residents, the plan is designed to fit the spare time of business travelers from outside Hokkaido and guests staying in Jozankei Onsen, proposing a new model for winter tourism.
Six Renewal Points
Six changes were introduced in response to participant feedback.
① 【Access】From a fixed timetable to flexible shuttle service
The October trial operated on a fixed schedule, but transfers can now be arranged more flexibly around guest arrival times and needs with advance reservation.
② 【Learning】Lectures using slides and video
In response to comments that vineyards are difficult to see in winter, the tour uses slides and videos to explain the vineyards throughout the four seasons and the winemaking process.
③ 【Food】Pairing wine with baked sweets
To enhance the tasting experience, the winery has partnered with popular Sapporo-Odori shop Rich Baked Sweets & Wine MERI MERO to serve rich baked sweets designed to pair with wine.
④ 【Winter Only】Warm mulled wine
From December through March, mulled wine is added to the tasting menu, allowing guests to enjoy a warm glass against the snowy landscape.
⑤ 【Lunch】Coq au Vin, chicken braised in red wine — ¥3,850 incl. tax
The attached restaurant offers this dish exclusively to plan participants with advance reservation. Each two guests receive one half-bottle of red wine; a party of three receives two half-bottles. The ¥5,000 voucher included in eligible plans can be used toward the meal.
⑥ 【Benefit】From a fixed souvenir bottle to a discount voucher
In response to requests to choose wine according to personal preference, the fixed souvenir bottle has been replaced with a discount voucher that can be used freely in the shop on the day.
