Furusato tax donation site Furunavi has begun accepting donations for crowdfunding projects in Omachi, Saga Prefecture.
One of the featured projects is related to wine.

About Omachi, Saga
Omachi’s northern area lies along gently south-facing mountain foothills, while the south is a flat grain-producing area dotted with farming communities.
Although it is the smallest municipality in Saga Prefecture by area at 11.50 square kilometers, it offers many appealing return gifts, including Saga Beef and sweet mandarins and strawberries.

Project 2 is particularly noteworthy for Japanese wine fans.
The project aims to transform former mine tunnels in Omachi, once regarded as a negative legacy after the closure of the coal industry, into storage spaces ideal for aging wine.
A winery is also scheduled to be completed in the town in 2026. Omachi is working toward an integrated local wine industry covering winemaking with locally grown grapes, bottling, storage, and aging.
Converting the mine tunnels into wine storage requires significant funding for safety measures and storage equipment, so the project is seeking support.
