Club Tourism International Inc. has begun selling a tour planned jointly with Kintetsu Department Store Co., Ltd. that allows participants to experience the appeal of Hokkaido’s wine culture.
The special program draws on the network of a buyer responsible for Hokkaido products.
About the Tour
Wine production is developing across Hokkaido by taking advantage of the region’s climate and natural conditions.
In recent years, the number of wineries in Hokkaido has increased. Recognition of “GI Hokkaido” and the registration by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) of Yamasachi, a unique grape variety developed in Ikeda, Hokkaido, have also increased interest in Hokkaido wine both in Japan and overseas.
This special tour was made possible through the local network of Kintetsu Department Store’s Hokkaido buyer, who is highly familiar with Hokkaido wine.
The itinerary includes winery visits guided by a sommelier and a special seminar at the Hokkaido Wine Education and Research Center, offering an opportunity to experience Hokkaido wine through all five senses.
